Because the connection is outbound, you don't need to forward any ports on the camera side, and you don't need a static-IP SIM — the camera is simply never directly reachable from the public internet.

Why not just use a static-IP SIM and port-forwarding?

Both expose the camera to the internet. Port-forwarding opens an inbound hole that gets scanned and attacked within hours; static-IP SIMs make the camera a fixed, findable target and cost more per month. A WireGuard tunnel gives you remote access with none of that exposure — and usually on a cheaper standard SIM.
