ATEX-certified GPS trackers are designed for use in hazardous areas where explosive gases, vapours or combustible dusts may be present. These intrinsically safe devices meet ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU and IECEx standards, making them suitable for oil and gas, chemical, mining and offshore environments. What SIM and data plan do I need?
These trackers work on UK 4G networks including EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three. You can bring your own SIM or buy a pre-configured one from us. Data usage is typically very low — around 500 MB to 2 GB per month per tracker, depending on update frequency.
Most models support dual-SIM failover, so if one network drops out in a remote area, the tracker automatically switches to the backup SIM. This is especially useful on offshore platforms or in areas with patchy coverage from a single provider.

Can I use a standard GPS tracker in ATEX zones?
No — standard electronics can cause sparks that ignite explosive atmospheres. Only ATEX/IECEx certified devices may be used in classified zones.
What ATEX zones are covered?
Our trackers cover Zone 0 (continuous explosive atmosphere), Zone 1 (likely) and Zone 2 (unlikely but possible), plus dust zones 20, 21 and 22.
How does man-down detection work?
Accelerometers detect falls and prolonged horizontal positioning. An alert is sent if the wearer doesn't respond to a pre-alarm vibration within 30 seconds.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 30 days with updates every minute. You can swap battery packs quickly without sending the device away for charging.
Do I need special training to use these trackers?
No technical training is required. The app and web portal are straightforward, and we provide full setup support and user guides.
Can I track workers inside buildings or tunnels?
Yes — the trackers support indoor positioning using Bluetooth beacons where GPS signal is weak or unavailable.
What happens during an emergency evacuation?
The system provides real-time headcount and location reports, showing which workers have reached muster points and who may still be on site.
