HaLow CCTV — Long-Range Wi-Fi Cameras (1km+)

Kilometre-range wireless cameras using 802.11ah HaLow technology.

WiFi HaLow (802.11ah) is a game-changing wireless standard that operates on the sub-1GHz spectrum, delivering WiFi-like speeds over distances of up to 1 kilometre — far beyond traditional WiFi's 50-metre range. Our HaLow CCTV systems let you deploy cameras across large areas like farms, estates, caravan parks and industrial sites without cellular data costs or complex cabling. Each camera connects wirelessly to a HaLow base station, which connects to your broadband or 4G router. The result is a high-bandwidth, low-power wireless camera network with no monthly SIM costs.

Key features

What range and coverage can I expect?

In open line-of-sight conditions, HaLow cameras can reach up to a kilometre from the base station. In practice, buildings, trees and terrain will reduce this — expect 300 to 600 metres in typical outdoor environments with some obstacles. Placing the base station high up and avoiding thick walls or metal structures helps maximise range.

If you need to cover a larger area, the mesh networking feature lets cameras relay signals through each other, effectively extending the network. You can also add extra base stations or repeater nodes to fill coverage gaps across complex sites like farms or multi-building estates.

Frequently asked questions

What is WiFi HaLow?

WiFi HaLow is a long-range wireless standard that works like normal WiFi but reaches up to a kilometre, making it ideal for large sites without the need for cables or monthly SIM costs.

Do I need broadband?

You need an internet connection at the base station — either broadband or a single 4G router. The cameras themselves connect wirelessly to the base station, so no individual SIMs are needed.

How many cameras can one base station support?

Most base stations handle 8 to 16 cameras comfortably, depending on video quality and how often they're recording. You can add more base stations if you need to expand further.

How long does installation take?

Once the base station is set up, adding cameras is quick — typically under 20 minutes per camera. They connect wirelessly, so there's no cabling to run between camera locations.

Will it work through buildings and trees?

HaLow signals penetrate walls and foliage much better than standard WiFi, but thick walls or dense woodland will reduce range. Line-of-sight gives the best performance.

Can I add more cameras later?

Yes, you can expand the system at any time. New cameras join the network wirelessly, and mesh networking means they can relay through each other to extend coverage.

What happens if the internet goes down?

Cameras continue recording locally to SD card or a network recorder. You won't have remote viewing until the connection is restored, but footage is still captured.
