Livestock GPS Trackers — Cattle & Sheep, Solar

LoRa and 4G LTE GPS collars for cattle, sheep, horses and working dogs.

Livestock GPS trackers use LoRaWAN or 4G LTE connectivity to provide real-time location tracking of cattle, sheep, horses and other animals. Collar-mounted trackers with long-life batteries send GPS positions at configurable intervals, enabling geofence alerts when animals stray from defined areas, mortality detection (no movement alerts), and activity monitoring. LoRa-based systems offer lower running costs using a farm-based gateway, while 4G models work anywhere with mobile coverage.

Key features

What SIM and data plan do I need?

For 4G collars, you need a standard data SIM from any UK network — EE, Vodafone, O2 or Three all work. Most collars are unlocked so you can bring your own SIM or buy a pre-configured one from us. Data usage is very low, typically under 500 MB per month per collar since they only send GPS coordinates.

LoRa collars don't need a SIM at all — they send data to your own gateway which connects to your broadband or a single 4G router. This makes LoRa much cheaper to run for larger herds, with no per-collar monthly fees once the gateway is installed.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the collar battery last?

LoRa collars last 1–2 years with hourly position updates. 4G collars last 1–6 months depending on update frequency, with solar-assisted options extending life significantly.

Will the collar withstand farm conditions?

Yes — all collars are weatherproof, impact-resistant and UV-stabilised, designed for year-round outdoor livestock use in all UK weather.

Do I need internet on the farm?

For LoRa systems you need a gateway connected to broadband or 4G. For 4G collars, each collar has its own SIM and works independently anywhere with mobile signal.

Can I track animals across multiple farms?

Yes with 4G collars — they work anywhere with mobile coverage. LoRa collars work within range of your gateway, typically 5–15km depending on terrain.

How often do I get location updates?

You choose the update interval. Hourly updates are typical for battery life, but you can request on-demand positions or set more frequent updates when needed.

Is there a monthly subscription cost?

4G collars need a data SIM (typically £3–8 per month per collar). LoRa collars have no monthly cost once you own the gateway.

Can I set up alerts for specific animals?

Yes — you can create custom geofence boundaries and receive instant alerts by text or app when individual animals or groups leave defined areas.
