Flockarewe — LoRaWAN Livestock Tracking with AI (Cattle & Sheep)

Know where your stock is — and when something's wrong. LoRaWAN ear tags and collars for cattle and sheep, with Shep, the AI that watches the herd 24/7.

Flockarewe is a UK-built livestock tracking platform that puts every animal on a live paddock map — without relying on 4G coverage. Long-life LoRaWAN ear tags and collars report position over a low-power radio network you install yourself, so even hill farms and valleys with no mobile signal get full coverage at no per-animal data cost. "Shep" — the AI watching the herd around the clock — learns normal grazing behaviour and flags the exceptions that matter: a cast animal, a ewe gone to ground to lamb, an illness, or the whole mob scattering from a predator or an open gate. Geofencing alerts fire the moment stock strays, movement trails show where an animal has been, and last-seen locations cut the time spent searching. As our sister brand, Flockarewe pairs naturally with our 4G and solar farm CCTV and LoRaWAN gateways for a single farm-monitoring estate.

Key features

Why LoRaWAN beats per-animal 4G for whole-herd tracking

The instinct is to put a 4G GPS collar on every animal — but at herd scale that means a SIM and a data fee per head, and it still fails in exactly the places livestock graze: hills, valleys and dead spots with no mobile coverage. It also burns battery, so collars need frequent charging. That's fine for a handful of high-value animals; it doesn't scale to a flock.

Flockarewe's LoRaWAN approach inverts that: you install your own low-power radio network once, then add tags that sip battery and carry no per-animal cost. Coverage follows your land, not the mobile networks. Where you genuinely need anywhere-tracking on a specific animal, you add a 4G collar — so you get the best of both without paying 4G economics across the whole herd.

Frequently asked questions

Does Flockarewe need mobile signal?

No — that's the point. Flockarewe runs on LoRaWAN, a long-range low-power radio network you install yourself, so it covers hills and valleys with no 4G. For specific high-value animals you can add 4G GPS collars where you want anywhere-tracking, but the core herd runs SIM-free with no per-animal data fees.

What is "Shep"?

Shep is the AI that watches the herd 24/7. It learns what normal grazing looks like for your animals and flags the exceptions — a cast animal, a ewe that's gone off to lamb, signs of illness, or the whole mob scattering. The idea is you hear about a problem from Shep before you'd have spotted it on a round.

How long do the tags last?

LoRaWAN ear tags and collars are designed for months to years between charges, because the radio is so low-power. Battery life depends on how often they report and the tag type — we'll advise based on your stock and how closely you want to track them.

How big a farm does it work on?

It scales from smallholdings of a handful of animals up to large stations of around 2,000 head. You install LoRaWAN gateways to give the coverage you need across the land, and add tags per animal.

Can it work alongside our farm cameras?

Yes — Flockarewe is our sister brand and pairs naturally with our 4G and solar farm CCTV and LoRaWAN gateways, so livestock tracking and farm surveillance run as one monitoring estate. Talk to us about a combined deployment.
