Fibre still doesn't reach most of the places that need connectivity most — the far shed, the compound on the edge of an industrial estate, the temporary site office, the CCTV pole in a field. A 4G or 5G router fixes that in an afternoon: it takes a mobile signal and hands out fast, reliable broadband over Ethernet and Wi-Fi, usually live the same week rather than after a six-month wait and a five-figure quote. A neat desktop unit that sits by a window where the signal is best and serves a room, a cabin or an office over Wi-Fi and a few LAN ports. Simplest to deploy, lowest cost, no weatherproofing. Outdoor 5G CPE (an ODU, or outdoor unit). A sealed, weatherproof box that mounts high on a pole or gable where the signal is far stronger, then feeds power and data back down a single cable. This is almost always the right answer for a rural or fringe site — putting the radio up high beats any indoor unit fighting through walls. A rugged, DIN-rail or wall-mount unit built for a control cabinet: wide temperature range, dual SIM for automatic failover, serial ports (RS232/RS485) for SCADA and legacy kit, digital I/O, and often PoE to power a camera or two directly. Built to run for years, unattended, in places a desktop box would not survive. Milesight — the industrial workhorses Milesight's UR series is where most professional installs start. The UR32 and UR35 4G industrial routers bring dual SIM failover, RS232/RS485, digital I/O and PoE PSE in a compact DIN-rail body — the UR35 with RS232/RS485 is a staple for remote monitoring and CCTV backhaul. Stepping up to 5G, the UR75 5G industrial router adds Wi-Fi, GPS and PoE, and the UF51 5G CPE with Wi-Fi 6 pairs a 5G modem with modern high-throughput Wi-Fi for busy sites. If you need a box that will sit in a cabinet and be forgotten about, this is the range. Four Faith — rugged, and a deep 5G line-up Four Faith build for the harsh end of the market, and their F-NR 5G family is one of the widest we carry. The F-NR100 and F-NR120 with CAN bus cover industrial and vehicle use, the F-NR130 is a compact 5G Wi-Fi router for smaller deployments, and the range splits neatly into CPE roles: the F-NR200 5G industrial CPE for outdoor and demanding sites, and the F-NR300 5G indoor CPE for a simple plug-in-by-the-window install. Their long-serving F3827 4G LTE router is still a reliable, cost-effective choice where 5G isn't needed. Suncomm — value outdoor 5G Sometimes you just want a weatherproof 5G box up the pole without the industrial price tag. The Suncomm CP520 X75 outdoor 5G CPE does exactly that: a Qualcomm X75 5G modem, dual SIM, Wi-Fi 6, dual-band 3000Mbps and a fully sealed IP67 body, so it mounts outdoors and beams the signal back inside. It is the value pick for farms, yards and remote cabins that want strong 5G without a control-cabinet build. Airlink — CPE for every shape of site Airlink's connectivity range is broad. Outdoors, the 5GODU-X75 5G outdoor CPE and the industrial-grade ODU-X62 (3GPP Release 16) put a serious 5G radio up high; indoors, the CPE 12 5G combo with Wi-Fi 6 is a clean desktop unit. For pure distance there's the Ultrasky4G Cat-12 outdoor CPE and the OM3000 outdoor 5G mesh access point for spreading coverage across a large site. How to choose, quickly A room, office or cabin with a decent signal indoors: an indoor CPE (Four Faith F-NR300, Airlink CPE 12, or the Suncomm indoors). A rural or fringe site where the signal is weak inside: an outdoor 5G CPE up the pole — Suncomm CP520 for value, Airlink 5GODU-X75 or ODU-X62 for the tougher jobs. A control cabinet, SCADA, or unattended remote monitoring: a Milesight UR series or Four Faith F-NR industrial router, with dual SIM failover and serial ports.
